Cortney Phillips RYT, LMT

Cortney began practicing Yoga in the fall of 1998 while in college at the University of Texas at Dallas. From that time her love & knowledge of Yoga has only grown. She went on to graduate with honors in May of 2000 from the University of Texas at Dallas earning a B.A. in Psychology. Shortly after graduation she began her study of massage therapy. Within four months, she completed her training and became a licensed massage therapist (LMT). During that time, she was asked by Vicki Johnson (Namaste USA) to teach Yoga at Collin County Community College. She welcomed the invitation to teach and in June of 2001 began teaching an Introduction to Yoga class. She currently holds a 500 hour certification with Namaste International, is registered with Yoga Alliance (RYI 500), and is a certified and licensed Mamaste Yoga Teacher (prenatal). Cortney continues to practice massage and is a certified prenatal therapist as well. She takes her continuing education of massage and wellness very seriously and has study many different techniques, reflexology and cranial sacral are just a few. During her ongoing study of yoga, she has experienced the teachings of Irene & Bill Beer, Esther Myers, Monica Voss, Shakta Kaur Khalsa, Judith Lasater, Donna Farhi, Karen Prior and Rossella Baroncini.

Yoga has profoundly increased the experience of vitality, joy, love & peace in my life. It is my heartfelt intention to share these gifts & the many other benef its of Yoga. In class, I encourage self-connection, increased body awareness & self-acceptance while creating a safe, comfortable, & fun environment to practice Yoga. I center my classes around the three main teachings of Vanda Scaravelli, the ground (the earth & our connection to it), the breath (the essence of life) and the spine (the core aspect of our energetic communication system in the body). My classes accommodate all levels of experience in the practice. I invite and welcome you to explore what Yoga has to offer.
